About Allison
How true those notions were! It wasn't long after crossing the Arizona border that I found myself managing a trading post in Marble Canyon. The winters
here seem long and they were sure a lot quieter back then. The nearest
town is 50 miles away. I needed something to help me pass the time.
Living just a mile off the Navajo reservation, I had ready help learning
the basics of smithing and practice taught me the rest. In 1986 the
trading post was sold and I began to pursue smithing as something more
than just a hobby. Today it's much more than that and it's also way
more than making a living. It's a way of living.
People ask me where I get my ideas. It's more like my ideas get me! The idea says NOW and if I stop whatever I'm doing and pay attention it's usually worth it. This is not always compatible with production, but my work is not only about production. It's about the way my art makes me feel, and ultimately it's about the way it makes you feel. If you own a piece of my jewelry and it's starting to look worn, then, I've succeeded. Thanks for buying my work!
